Rare 1890 Johnstown Flood by a Survivor Rev Beale

Through the Johnstown Flood by a Survivor: A truthful, thrilling and official history of the most appalling calamity of modern times.  By Rev. David J. Beale.  His job seems to have been not only to calm the community after the disaster but also extensive work in the morgue preparing the massive dead.  Incredibly insightful and rare archive information between these covers.    Book is remarkably clean and in beautiful condition.  Spine has started to separate from binding because of the pages (418+) weight.   Interesting article about this edition: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07128/784156-51.stm  $125.

c1920 American Missionary to India Archive

Nine pieces in total, pictured first with detail pics following.  Two specific female bookmarks on heavy cardstock (2″ x 6″,) one postcard sized print of a Cleveland family in China (friends I’m sure) and another printed card (slightly larger) from India as well; four photos including a rppc taken in India, a snapshot (3″ x 5″) of the family proper taken in India (reverse reads “pray for us in India) and two smaller snapshots (2 1/2″ x 4″) that seem to have been taken in Florida – one of a pair of (Seminole?) Indian boys, and the other of a camp cook which reads “our camp cook only has one leg.”  Its a remarkable little archive of early 20thc missionary work, as these were sent home to a family local to me (envelope is included with Indian postage and mailing address) and kept since.  Everything is in nice condition, with slight expected wear.  $60.

1940s Publicity Photo Young Lena Horne Signed

Obviously, she’s stunning.  This photo was  found in a WWII serviceman’s scrapbook and   is presumed to be from 1942-3 because of   some dated paperwork that accompanied it.    Likely a USO touring piece.  Measures 4   1/4″ x 6″.  Because of the texture of the paper and the felt tip pen (rather than a   much easier to judge ball point), I am not 100% the autograph is signed and not printed.  I’m vacilating and am happy to entertain any thoughts or questions via email.  I purchased it as an autograph, and it was in the company of other autographs in the scrapbook.
