Falling down the Rabbit Hole

Antiques should be an adventure;  encapsulating any design, time frame, and cultural influence imaginable all reflected in a single piece (unlike any other) that hopefully not only says something about its creator but also says something personal about the owner that choose it as part of their own landscape.

In my opinion, antiques and art should never be cookie cutter and as such I never stock “what every other antique shop” does…its only things that you didn’t know existed or that you wanted yet, here!  I enjoy what I do, and I want these pieces to end up places where they are truly felt and valued…as such many of my pieces end up in colleges, small museums and libraries – and that thrills me to no end.  But I’ve also contributed to some astonishing single collections as well, so have a little fun and email with questions.

New Year Promises….

Well for the millionith year in a row, I find myself still compelled by this business…so here I suppose I will stay.  As many people have turned to me and said “I need a creative outlet to be happier” with the start of the new year and its resolutions, I realize how lucky I am that both of my jobs (antiques and picture framing)  provide  me a creative outlet as a living – you can sometimes forget that when times are tough;)  My resolutions are few, but will include my wholehearted attempt at permancy at the Greensburg address and my best efforts at building up its services and events as I find this town’s art scene;) For now, I’d mostly just like to say thank you for all who “get it” and allow me to keep doing it, I can’t imagine my life any other way.  ~ Natalie

Wanna Visit?

The Den is run by Natalie Curley and on occasion, her lovely assistant and way into this world, Elaine Curley.   The hours of operation are at their finality according to these two ladies’ whims (or rather, other committments) but we do our damnedest to stick to these hours:

Sunday and Monday: Closed

Tuesday through Saturday: 10-5

If you are a regular customer (or you want to be), give a call or drop an email (natalie@curleysantiques.com) and ask me to stay late or open up especially for you.  I live about 20 minutes away and if I’m able to meet you on a weekend or an evening, I will be happy to.

Address is 16 West Second St, Greensburg, PA 15601.

From PGH, Take the Greensburg Exit and stay on East Pittsburgh to the intersection of Main Street.  Turn right at the light onto Main and right at the next light onto Second Street.  We are on the left, down a set of steps.

From points East, Take West Pittsburgh from 119 or 30 and follow to the intersection with Main Street.  Turn left and immediately turn right at the next traffic light onto Second Street.  Look for us on the left, down a set of steps;)

The shop phone number is 724 216 5200 and if coming from out of town, or especially on a Saturday afternoon/early evening – give a ring.  We sometimes close early when we’ve been lonely all day;)

Just getting comfy.

After a four week long trial with my newly found floor tiling skills, Curley’s Den finally opened up in the second week of October.  Thus, we’ve made it a month and I’m just getting comfy.  It has been decided by the powers that be, that my web designing skills are lacking and as such, we are going to try this forum for store and stock updates while someone better than I works on my website;) So, as time permits I will be adding some of my favorite things in the shop, with some photos here for all the curious.

I’d like to offer a quick reference guide to the inventory postings…if you will.  The categories of antiquarian books, vintage sports, advertising, old master art, historical ephemera, white elephants and finally vintage photographic images are sub categories of the larger “oddities and art offered by Curley’s Den,” to view entire stock, simply click there.  Thanks so much, email with any inquiries!
